10" Pre Filter Cartridge Set for reverse osmosis systems, including 5 micron bonded depth sediment, GAC coconut carbon & CTO block coconut carbon.
High capacity 10" coconut carbon water pre-filters. Designed to fit most 10" water filter housings. Can improve the taste of the water compared to the standard set of 3 filters on an reverse osmosis water filter.
Included In This Set
Fits most 10” water fed pole window cleaning & fishkeeping filter systems including RO-MAN.
Bonded Depth Sediment Filter
This filter is a replacement particulate filter for 10" filter housings. Removes sand, silt, dirt, and other particles, and has more filtration capacity than a standard moulded particle filter, down to 5 micron. This is typically used in the right hand canister of the filter system.
GAC Granulated Activated Coconut Carbon Filter
In the GAC filter, water flows through a filter full of activated coconut carbon granules which removes chlorine, organic contaminants, chemicals, and undesirable tastes and odours. This is based on providing maximum surface area of carbon granules exposed to your water. Has a higher filtration capacity than a GAC Filter that is made from mined carbon.
It is important that this filter is fitted with the rubber seal upwards (most filters are water fed from the top).
Block Coconut Carbon Filter (CTO)
The combination of the ultimate in plastics extrusion and activated carbon technologies has transformed the future of carbon filtration. By incorporating powder carbon and small mesh structures with extrusion manufacturing methods, clean, consistent and economic filters termed ‘carbon block’ are created. Longer life, higher flow, no channeling, lower extractable, fine filtration, plus they are cleaner and more versatile. This is a 5 micron carbon block filter used for the removal of chlorine and certain heavy metals and contaminants. They are particularly important for the removal of chlorine from water to protect your ro membranes.
This filter has a high filtration capacity than a standard CTO carbon block filter.
We recommend that these filters are changed 1-6 months depending on output capacity and actual use and water output. The idea is to keep chlorine off your membranes. This does depend upon the throughput of your RO system. Do not exceed these times or you may find that chlorine has oxidised your membranes requiring a complete replacement of RO membranes.
After fitting the filters, disconnect the pre-filter output from your RO housing and allow to flush approximately 5-10 minutes reconnect and start making water. This helps remove any particles from the new carbon filters and protects your membrane, if you get the small particles of carbon on your RO membrane is will cause the membrane to clog and results in early reduced flow rates. Please note it is quite normal for all new carbon filters to lose some carbon dust.
