There has been much written in the press last year about the effects of Chlorinated Water, the effect on human health, "Birth Defects" and the overall effect of chlorine/hot water on human health. The problem being that hot chlorinated water can produce tri-halomethanes (THM's) which can have an adverse effect on the human body.

WHY USE A SHOWER FILTER?

HOW DOES IT WORK?
This filter contains a mixture of Granular Activated Carbon, in conjunction with 20grams of KDF 55. KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) is a high purity copper-zinc formulation that uses basic chemical process known as redox (oxidation/reduction) to remove Chlorine, Lead, Mercury, Iron & Hydrogen Sulphide from your water supply.
The process also has a mild anti-bacterial, algaecitic & fungicide effect and may reduce the accumulation of lime scale.
As the chlorinated water passes through the KDF media, the chlorine element is changed into harmless, water-soluble chlorides, by means of an electro-chemical reaction. During this reaction other heavy metals are attracted to the media and effectively removed from the water supply.
GAC, also has the ability to adsorb organic and some inorganic contaminants, coupled with KDF media, both the effectiveness and useful life cycle of the and useful life cycle of the filter is increased.

There are many tests available to measure the concentration of Free Chlorine, we have used a standard DPD Colorimetric Test Kit, accuracy of readings is within an incremental range of 0.5mg/L (ppm) Chlorine, tests were carried out with samples taken from the inflow and outflow of the shower filter at seven day intervals over a period of six months. The test shower was run for approximate throughput of 50 gallons per day.
